Funny thing is I NEVER wore one until I met my now husband. He insisted on it and I always felt strangled. Now I cannot drive without one, I feel naked and like I'm bouncing around in the car with nothing to hold me down. For those that do not wear one, remember YOU are RISKING your life. It is a cold hard fact that wearing a seat belt may be the one thing that saves you from death or serious injury. I've been in a few accidents without a seat belt and well they are not pleasant at all. Been in a couple with seat belts and the experience involved alot less blood and pain! No the accidents were not my fault either. And about the short trips. Does anyone knows the newest statitics on how many people get in an accident and are seriously injured or die with a 1/4 mile of their home. The number used to be very big. Think about it. The odds are so much higher you will get into an accident on your street or in your neighborhood because that is where you drive the most. When I was in high school a group of kids were going home after a night of partying and they all died less than 30 seconds away from the street they lived on!! Oh and just about a month or so ago a couple hit the tree across the street from their house and died right there. Can you imagine? I never heard what happened, my guess is he didn't realize he was at his house until it was too late and maybe looked away from the road for a second. (I'm sure drinking was involved)
I guess you got inspired by my thread and car crash. Thats why i visited this thread lol. After the car crash seat belts all the way!!! If anyone wants to know the thread here you go: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=333092 - Prilep
Why would anyone NOT wear a seat belt?!?! http://www.jmu.edu/safetyplan/vehicle/generaldriver/safetybelt.shtml They don't cost anything, take seconds to clunk-click and are proven to save lives and reduce serious injury. You need your head examining if you choose not to wear one! Not only would I always wear one when driving but I won't start driving unless all the passengers are also belted-up. It used to be the case in the UK that the driver was responsible and fined if their passengers weren't wearing a seat belt but I think someone mentioned recently that the fine is now given directly to any adult not wearing the seat belt.
not all the time. in some places i know that police are around, i have to wear it..but when i know that its police free, seat belt unlocked! i feel like im in a straight jacket!
Years ago when they made it mandatory here I refused... soon after I paid a $50 dollar fine... Now its my religion Funny how losing your $$$ changes your outlook
Why does everybody keeps bringing up the traffic police... It's for your own protection lol ...Wanna fly out of the windshield go ahead and don't use it ....
Every person should wear a seat belt,a helmet, a fireproof suit, a face mask, mittens, safety shoes, oxygen mask, ear plugs and a welding mask when driving. We need all the protection we can get from all the millions of idiots that got their driver's license out of corn flakes packets Col
For safety precaution, I always use seatbelt. And it is a traffic violation in our country for not wearing seatbelt.
Always... You never know when a crash is going to happen. And I quite frankly don't feel like shooting through the windscreen. Since I'm not Wolverine ...I can't be so careless
Well it depends if i am driving a car i wear a seatbelt, but if i am a passenger it depends if car is moving or not, if i am just a passenger and car has no gas, i usually do not wear a seatbelt
I used to wear it but thought nothing about it when I saw someone without wearing a belt untill it saved me from hitting the windshield in a mild bumb Now I know how important they are and make sure anyone in my vehicle is buckled!
It's never comfortable, but I will always wear one after knowing people die from not wearing them, it is a moral obligation for me. I've always worn one since I was little, so I'm used to it too.
