I use mostly FF and sometimes TOR but my question is - do you use NoScript and Adblock Plus to shut down all commercials?
I use Adblock Plus, yes - haven't bothered with noscript, although I guess I should be running that as well - I'm just lazy, and can't be arsed whitelisting everything I need to run js on.
Yes I do, because I trust online advertisers about as far as I could throw the Big Stick! Adverstisers are a bunch of sleazy scumbags to begin with, before you even mix online into the equation. You start salting the online sleazy slime with marketing asshattery and the massive volume of outright criminals and thieves that have made the Internet their home, and you end up with such a hive of scum and villainy that Mos Eisley is happy to no longer have a corner on the market. Though that goes hand in hand with the web as a whole, which when you combine in the bleeding edge of 1997 development practices that are being touted as 'modern' and outright idiotic mouth-breathing bullshit like jQuery, Bootcrap and Turdpress, it is hardly surprising that we are seeing all the telltales that were present before the last dotcom bubble burst. Which is why people like Mark Cuban now agree with what I've been saying for about five years that we're in a tech bubble made worse by a lack of liquidity since it's ALL done on borrowed money with no real infrastructure, meaning this next burst is going to have a far more significant financial and social impact.
I use Adblock Plus and Better Privacy. I also don't use the spyware browser know as Chrome. I search using Duckduckgo instead of octogooglepus. I dump cache when I exit the browser. I block cookies and only whitelist for sites that I trust and want to use a cookie login. I use several different usernames online, several different laptop and desktop computers plus I generally route through different IP partly because I move around a lot, but also because I have several IPs available as well. I don't want to be tracked, labelled, categorized, or targetted, because some slimy marketer bought information about me from octogooglepus or some other seller of personal information.
