do you use meta tag description?

I've read that google has devalued meta keywords, but it still seems like a good practice to me to put them in. I also agree with most others that meta description is important because it is supposed to draw people in and make them want to visit your site.

 

ALWAYS create meta tags! No matter what others say about meta not being important for SEO, it is good practice. Yea it maybe not be that important, but why do you think googlewebmaster checks for duplicate description?

 

Some say meta tags are not important. But there's no harm to your website if you put meta tags on it.

It will take so little time to write your keywords in your keywords tad so why not do it?

 

They are as important as the display window of a shop, whatever you write in your description meta tag will be your invitation for surfers to go to your site... and I also think that they are important for blogs as well.

 

There should be any issue with writing a meta description for the web pages as these are the best means to give a summary of the information present on the page. Also if you are getting ranked on search engines for keywords written in meta description tag, it will also be helpful for the users to click for their required information.

Well, if you doubt the importance of Meta Descriptions, check your GG account Webmaster Tools. If you have duplicate or irrelevant Meta Descriptions, GG will warn you about it.

GG and other search engines do check Descriptions and although having unique and relevant description for each page improves your position only by a fraction, using irrelevant or duplicate Descriptions (the same text for all pages) can seriously affect your position.

Sorting out my Descriptions for an old site I have almost forgotten about, saw it climbing up by 4 positions which made a lot of difference!

 

what about blogspots? any one have any experience placing meta tags for blogspots or are they even necessary at all?

 

hi, meta tags are very important. I website can not be promoted well in short time if there is no meta tags.

So don't say that

 

meta description has no effect for google serp

 

How many pages are we talking here?
What or how are these pages put together?
Are you using a wordpress, blogspot type of backend?
There may be plug-ins available that will automate much of that.
