Hi I was wondering if you use any images from google images on your websites. I downloaded a few pictures of celebrities for my site, I resized them so they are now quite small compared to the original, about height 100px. Is this risky, because I believe images have copyrights or is there no need to be too concerned? Thanks for your responses!
Yes, unless those pics are not GNU GPL Free license most likely they are subject to copyrights terms. You might get your site in troubles because of even one single pic.
Be careful with those.. many are copyrighted. Just because google images shows them doesn't mean you can use them for free.
Actually Google don't own any of images except the one associated with Google.com it shows you search engine listed images from referring websites! so there must be an issue between the site vendor and the one who uses the image!
No, you cannot just use images in Google. You need the photographers/artists permission to use any images you find on the web. Some are licensed using creative commons or royalty free while others are not. Its risky to take without knowing, the permissions allowed.
The internet is a big fantasy bubble. I use any and everything I see and touch online. If it is on my screen it is mine...
For my websites, generally no. For my Hubpages or Squidoo articles, yes. But I always read through the licenses and give credit where credit is due. That's a good way to get yourself hit with a cease and desist letter. Or better yet, a lawsuit. Copyright infringement is nothing to mess around with.
No. I buy small pics for $1= 1 credit or I get non-copyrighted ones. If you can spend $1 on a web page it is not worth posting IMO.
All images have an automatic copyright upon creation. You need express permission from the owner to use them. Giving credit does not grant usage rights. You can be sued and lose your adsense account in your infringe upon others rights. Copyright infringement can also be a criminal charge and people have gone to prison in extreme cases. Not worth the risk - unless you are a dirt bag, don't care about being sued, have no money, and never plan on having any... then it's ok.
There some free and some with copyright. There are many service who offer great pics for reasonable prices
If anything it should be moved to legal issues, but discussion about this topic is related to marketing in a sense. All pictures on google are owned by other people or websites who have these pictures on their website. Taking these images from Google is the same as taking them directly from the website who owns the image. If you use these pictures on your website you risk getting involved in copyright infringment. I only use minor images on my website from google without any permission-images that can't really be traced back to one website. For example I normally use google if I need a picture of an arrow or a smiley face or something really generic that can't be specifically "owned" by one person or website.
using for 4 years. nothing happens. not possible to find the criminals from trillions of web pages. it's image, not article. if you steal an article, that can be found by a search with an unique segment from that article. but if you steal an image and rename it and than use it, nobody can possibly find the page where that image is used.
Wrong. There are companies with software that search the web for their clients and find stolen pictures. No one has found you because you probably have crap sites with little to no traffic. No successful webmaster would take the risk of being sued or losing their adsense account.
Hahahha, don't be so smart stupid dog. Why, why you dumb always take the side of probability? We are live streamers, heard of it? We deal with such an amount of traffic , maybe you never saw in your dreams. I get around 30000-40000 unique per month on every site of mine. I have adsense on all of them. I regularly copy images and part of articles from others. Doesn't matter. Who caught me? It's been 4 years. We work in sports sector where everyone is copying the same images and text over and over. but nothing happens. I know what is your problem. Some people are there who get pleasure, just by opposing others. You are a that kind of guy. Which companies? what kind of software? Dumb ass, machines can't find images, doesn't matter how advance your software is. Yah some plain image like a white background and black words in the middle can be read I think with some high technology, but software can't read image in general. That's why websites gives you to captcha, recaptcha challenges during sign-up, just to make sure you are a human (I don't think you are. you're a donkey). These threats like, copying images is violation of bla bla bla. You can't find it. and that's it. Google itself copy a part of the text or copy a version of the website images stores them into it's database. That's how their index is built. Register a domain today, put some text and image(original or stolen, doesn't matter) and wait for 1 week. You'll see it's in googe's index with part of the text you wrote. Now ask yourself, have google ever asked your permission to crawl you site? no. so that's stealing once again.
