Freeware isn't always the best quality, I find that legal freewares that are available for download usually are limited in functions unless you pay for them! (like most of the ones on download.com)... companies need to make money..
I really hate when people compare downloading software that a person can't afford, to stealing physical goods like a car. That is a pretty stupid comparison. When you download something, you aren't taking anything from the owner, you are only withholding your money from them (if you have the money) and still getting use out of their product (but not at any additional expense or physical loss of property to them). If there is no way you can afford a piece of software, there is nothing wrong with pirating it, but I do think there is still something wrong with seeding (sharing the file back with anyone else who wants it) because you don't know if that person is just being greedy and not wanting to pay for it, or if they just can't afford it. But if you have a friend and know they can't afford it, there's nothing wrong with sharing it with them. This is just my opinion on the ethics of pirating lol.
i do not have pirated games, but i have lots and lots (like 3000) songs, all for free, and lots of movies too, and some software as well, if i had the money i probably would buy them, but i dont
As a software developer myself, I do not use pirated softwares. All my softwares are legally purchased or legally created for my needs. I would be a hyprocrite if I use pirated software and want people to buy legal copies of my software. I have to set an example for my customers and those around me. I however do download pirated copies of my own programs from warez sites to determine how they foil the security module and try to improve on it on my end.
