I started using the <hx> tags in my posts to try and help with serps and adsense, but I am not sure if it looks right. Do you guys use them? Are they necessary for seo on a blog?

I use them all the time. If you don't like the look use CSS to change the appearance.

Using headers can be good for search engines, if you don't overuse them. There should only be one or two headers per page. You can change the size of them and the look with CSS to make them just look like bolds, as well.

I use them only to divide up longer posts.

Since I'm a WP Addict and am too lazy to change the CSS, almost every blog I use has h tags!!
