Just doing a bit of research here, hope you can help out by answering the poll.

    1. Do you use a cache plugin on your Wordpress site, if so which one?

    2. Did you find it easy or difficult?

    3. Did you find positive results afterwards?

If you don;t know why you need a cache plugin see this post.

    Hi,

here are my answers to your questions:

    1. Yes. I am using W3 Total Cache in all of my sites, which are powered by Wordress. I tried some other cache plugins as well, but I could not get them to work properly.

    2. It was quite easy to install and configure. However, I am not sure if I am a big fan of the fact that most of the cache plugin requires that the safe mode is set to off. I would prefer a plugin, which works also when safe mode is on.

    3. Yes I did actually. The pages were loading a lot more faster (even though my blogs do not currently have got so much traffic). I used PageSpeed and Firebug Firefox plugins to test the cache and the performance of the site was improved.

    Thanks for the info Petri.

The safe mode issue is one of the downsides of being on a shared server, but you can pick up a VPS account pretty cheap these days which will improve your site's loading time again.

I always think you should pay for good hosting but I know a lot of people like to save their pennies, especially when starting out.

I'm no expert but I don't think Safe Mode is even used in the latest version of PHP. A good host should be able to find a work around for you even if you are on a shared server.
