I have several sites now, and I've been using the same password for each hosting plan. Is this not recommended?

    of course it's not recommended.

but I, and lots of others, still do it.

as long as you have backups and the downtime required to get things back up wouldn't be critical, it shouldn't be a huge deal.

Using different passwords for different accounts is only useful if you can remember them all, if not then you'll just end up writing them down or forgetting them, in which case it would be better to just choose one relatively secure password that you can commit to memory and use that for every account.

I would not recommend using the same pass for each host. What I do is I use different passes for each account dedicated server I have and every site and account that I have on them and I put them all on an excel file and store them on a stick.

I use different passwords for all hosting accounts. If Im going to access them regularly (every 2 or 3 days) then remembering the different passwords isn't too hard.

But as Disgust said as long as you have recent backups you should be ok.

Most of the time, sometimes it gets confusing though with which host uses which username/password.

I set passwords that even I can't remember for FTP, for individual sites:D Never need it since I can login as administrator, dedicated servers:)
