I find a disconnect when using a tablet.. so I sketch everything by hand, scan it in and vectorize my logo designs.

I have a wacom tablet that i rarely use for design work, i mainly use it when i am limited with the mouse or i can create a better effect if i draw it myself, i find that a tablet is more accurate than a mouse but alot more tricky but once you get used to them they are great!

Definitely a tablet. I'm using a Wacom tablet that's at least five years old, but it works very well.

I've got an old Wacom Graphire2 that I use for photo editing/retouching.

But I use a mouse for vector stuff like logos.

I normally use a mouse or trackpad (when I'm on a laptop) to navigate. It's just easier to me. I used to work with a guy who used drawing tablets almost religiously... I most certainly didn't (and still don't) understand his obsession but I do admit that they are great for some things! =]

i think if you are planning to buy one, ask around to see if you can get a loan from a friend. Try it out for a week than decide.

Tablets can be great benefit if you are willing to change your workflow, not so good if you have been designing for years on a mouse. :p

For photoretouching and digital painting its awesome, cant beat a good tab.

I use a mouse as well, but I suck at it. I wish I had a tablet, but I'm too lazy to get one (or I actually don't think I'll use it enough to get the full value out of it since I mostly design websites).

I have a Wacom Grafire 4 tablet, but I use it for sketching mostly (for games and character design).
