Sometimes I do, but sometimes for me it's better to deal with the cold than the heat.

Well I live in California so its never THAT cold.

But when it gets down to a nippy 50 degrees the heater kicks in to bring it back up to a manageable 70!

I have to have the heat on in the middle of winter. If not the house pipes might freeze and bust, that would cost alot more to repair and be more of an inconvienence than a heating bill.

Didnt used to when i was a student but that was as much because of the terrible heating system when you had to set the temperature you wanted 24 hours in advance and even then it had "run out" by 8pm until it started heating up again at 2am.

Do occasionally turn it on at home but to be honest with 2 high spec PCs, PS3, a large amp for the cinema setup and a projector on a lot of the time there is rarely a need for heating to be on :)

Yet another source of arguments with my roommate. My roommate moved here from Venezuela three years ago. The combines gas/electric bills were over $300/month last winter...and he saw no problem with that. I at least got him to turn the thermostat *down* to 70.

Keeping in mind that my roommate spends on average about three hours per day at the apartment...

I hear that. I had the same situation a few years ago in Boston. Our heating bills were costing us around $450 a month plus our $1,800/month rent. We had both Gas and Electric heating. Gas upstairs and Electric downstairs. I like to keep the thermastat at 65 and he wanted it at 80.. bad situation.. lol

What a goofy question. Of course most people who live in areas where it gets cold uses the heat. It gets as low as -55 F here so I would be dead without heat.
