I never turn my PC off, but I have about 8 web sites that all automatically back up to my raid array in this box every night. Our datacenter does weekly backups but I also like to keep my own backups.
Standby is sh*t ... Use hibernation instead. It's the same like turning off, but "restart" just takes a few seconds.
i do every nite unless i leave sometimes downloading, which is not in many cases i sometimes dont use the computer until like 6pm, so why leave it on? i turn it on when i need it and shut it down when i go to bed.
I make it as a practice to turn off my PC whenever the break is more than an hour. Though a machine, let it also take some much needed rest
It's supposed to be good if you leave it on all the time. I turn mine off most of the time because it heats up my room quite a bit over night.
Yeah I turn it off to save energy and because it always makes a high pitched noise that gives me a headache after long periods of time.
I usually turn my laptop off at night unless I need it fully charged for the next day and I won't power available.
My PC is near my Bed. I always turn at night and leave something for download. Maybe 4 nights a week, I turned it on every night.
Mine has been restarted maybe twice in the past 4 months so its been on all but two minutes. I always have a bunch of windows open that I dont feel like sorting through to shut off my computer. Its not good to keep turning your computer on and off. If youre worried about power just shut the monitor off, it uses most of the power.
I almost always shut down my desktop over night unless I happen to forget to do so. Whilst with my laptop on the other hand I just put it to sleep because it takes a while to start up sometimes. Thats why you turn the monitor off. lol
