Geez you guys are real addicts! I used to switch mine off every time I left it for a while, now I only switch it off when I go sleep.
For 12 month ago 'Yes' but for now 'No' , I wasting electric current even a bill my mother pay it. My emo not stable because every second, minutes , day, hours I think about the next project on my computer. So bad. I tired .
Yes I do, because it runs smoother freshly started. For you guys that have it on 24/7, here's an idea, have it be doing something useful 24/7, like looking for Alians!!
I leave it on 24hrs. Use it as a dns server for me and another host. Used to be in SETI but it caused the computer to run too hot.
I have 1 of my PCs running Folding@Home 24/7. I thought we should have a DP folding team, but nobody gave a crap when I posted the idea. I reboot my other PC about twice a week.
that's awesome. friend of mine mentioned both of these one time, this and the SETI, I would choose the chairs over the former in an instant!
Mostly I do, but sometimes I go to take "just a small nap" and then fall asleep....and the PC remains in standby for rest of the night .
i dont turn it off every night, but i try to sometimes i relax in my bed waiting on a download and i drift off and happen to leave it on , but mostly i turn it off
what's the technical viewpoint? a fresh boot is obviously better than hibernating and sleeping since it clears memory and such... I worry about HDD life!
Due to frequent power cut problems, I always turn off my computer before I go to bed. My UPS bleep not audible in sound sleep in case of power failure.
yes i do, just because i sleep in the same room as my brother and he doesn't likes to sleep with the comp's noise..
Rumor has it, some one from another planet already posts here. Oh, wait...it's no rumor, it's that dude from Planet Zeekois!!!
it's the salt mines for him!@! yeah, that's why I ask...I think at one time it was considered a good idea to shut it off every single time but now I'm not so sure, I think that viewpoint has changed.
