Do you think you can be Successful in BRANDING a business with out the... "business name" DOT COM?

for example.... if their trademarked name was for example - "Sports Mark" ....if they didn't own SportsMark.com do you think they can still be successful in branding the business?

It really depends on the business.

 

Yes absolutely. Just thinking about it now, I can think of several huge multi-million pound companies that run without the .com extension.

 

It would be cheaper for them to brand it through internet and a website rather then offline.

I understand why you posted this question but in my personal opinion and in this economy the internet is and can only get bigger. Most business are completely stopping phone book ads, billboards etc. And is just going straight to SEO. and websites. Now a days when someone wants something they never go to phone books they always go to internet. So Yea i think that it is mandatory to have a Successful business you have to have a Dot Com. I work for a business that has multiple customer-websites, none of which are their "COMPANY NAME" DOT COM.

So yes you can be successful. If SportsMark (in your example) sold sporting DVD's, then SportingDVDs.com might even be more successful than their original domain.

the domain name really isn't that important when you've got SEO weapons and good product/service to offer. Not a lot of people just type domain name in the address blank space, people "Google" and look through the first two or three pages to find what they need, not the best domain name, SEO is what you need. On the other hand, if you are in the business of buying domain names, I really don't know how that works, you need professional advice from experts then.

 

Domain name does not matter as long as you have well explained the things on any abc domain about the product you are promoting.

Post some good content and wait to see the traffic rolling in

SEO is def. where its at... It def. helps to have "Yourname.com" though.

 

Its good to have a dot com domain but its not like that dot com TLD is everything for branding. One can go for dot info or dot org etc.

 

Why not? They can definitely be successful if they think out of the box! CREATIVITY can be successful!
