In 2006 at the peak of the prosperous economy Waren Buffet just donated a major sum of his money to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. 2 years later, the world enter a global crisis that has his company shares down by about 50%. I mean it is obvious that he still has a lot of money in his savings, being able to write down billion dollar check to buy companies, but now that everybody is seeking loans and bailout help and his company shares are falling, do you think he regretted donating his money or do you think he donated it at the wrong time?
I don't think so. According to FORBES magazine, Buffett's net worth skyrocketed a couple of billion dollars in 2008, when everything else was going down the drain.
Of course he doesn't regret it. There's a rule of the Universe: give some if you wanna get some! You cannot be happy and prosperous without first giving to other people.
I think he donated at the perfect time. I'm sure he sold a bunch of stock to get that money, and so being at the height of the boom he got the most for it, and his donations went the farthest. I only wish I'd also had the foresight to cash-out in 2006. But that's why I'm not Warren Buffett I guess.
it's stupid to regret a donation no matter how much money were involved or circumstances that occur...
Actually, the more you donate and help other people, the more you will gain your profits... It's just the way it is...
