I personally believe that everything every human does is completely selfish. Everything from giving to the poor or giving your life to save someone elses. Here's why I believe this. 1): When you help someone else, you get a good feeling. 2): You feel pity for someone, you help them to relieve that pity, or 3): You feel you need to help that person, and if you don't, you feel badly. Everything you do is to help yourself in some way. If somebody got no pleasure in any way from helping someone else, they wouldn't do it. Interesting, aye?
An unselfish act is doing something without no obligation to anything whatsoever. Take it as, you being on this forum. You are 'unselfishly' helping the post count for the forums. And there you go, there is such a thing called an 'unselfish act'. //edit Damn...that doesn't work because you're gaining knowledge in the process.... >_<...Nevermind...
There should be some serious reasons for that. Love is a very common cause. Faith is a very good motivator too.
Yes, I am gaining knowledge, and I'm doing it because I like it here. When I was waiting out for the Wii, I was awakened by the arrival of two new guys. After asking if they were muggers, I asked them about this. One guy said he didn't think there was such thing unless you didn't know you were doing it. I agree with that, you can do something unselfish for somebody else if you don't know you are doing it.
