Hi, Another quick question. Do you think there is a certain limit on the number of pages Google is going to index depending on your PR? I mean, if you have a PR1 site with 5000 pages, will google really index them all? I don' think so.. (Note: I never tried, it is just a hunch!) Based on your experience, can you give a rough estimate as to when Google will really stop?
There probably is some correlation. I think the tough part is that the "real" PR of a site is only updated quarterly or so now by Google. So, you may have PR0 site that starts to index lots of pages b/c its real PR is higher. One example I have is a site that was a PR4 about two months ago with 3k indexed pages. Last month it dropped to a PR0 for some reason and boom a few days later it lost more than half of its indexed pages. Then this month back to a PR4 and google has gone crazy indexing pages. Not exactly proof since Google always changes.
>> Do you think there is a certain limit on the number of pages Google is going to index depending on your PR? Nope
Absolutely incorrect, you can still get PR0 websites with 5000 pages indexed. It helps if the pages have an easy navigation for spiders to follow, i.e site maps, more than one if you have trouble getting some deeper pages indexed.
Incorrect in what aspect. I stated that there is "probably" some correlation and I gave an example. Yes, you can get a PR0 with 5000 pages indexed if that site has a lot of inbound links but I would think that its real PR is higher than 0 at that point.
I concur with ideas expressed above. I have never seen any correlation between pagerank and number of pages indesed. Shannon
a389951, that was response to msaad's initial question: "Do you think there is a certain limit on the number of pages Google is going to index depending on your PR?" In my experience (having a pr0 website with 3 inbounds for 6 months) google will index pages that are PR0, although there are certain things you can do to help it. Such as having good link structure, small page sizes, and less Java etc
I totally agree with 1234244 on this It is amazing how quickly google indexed deeper (and very new) pages once I started making sure they were easy to reach. Vickie
Thanks for sharing your experiences. So is there any truth then of the higher PR = more frequent crawls? Or is this a myth also?
How did you guys get your sites indexed quickly?? My site have been online for about 2month now.... And only 24 pages are indexed by google while Yahoo indexed around 400.. Amazing...
Where has Google written that you only get 5,000 pages indexed with a PR0? Sorry, but this is just another example of a Google myth. With regard to the amount of time G takes to index pages, I've had 6,000 indexed within 10 months.
