...and even if you do, it's still kind of a lousy TLD. I hardly ever see them showing up in SERPS. I tried ranking .us's before, and God is it hard to do...
Simple logic: If .COM means "commercial" & .CO means "commercial", then the letter M is not a necessity. Therefore, .CO is the true abbreviation of "commercial". It's like USA & US. Is the letter A necessary ? We all know the United-States is from America. Occam's razor chikabowow.. .CO does not fall under the authority of ICANN. I can geo target the world with it. Why is this ?
JohnnyFund, OMG your way of thinking is wrong! First of all we are comparing .com with .co and not with .us Second there are milions of domains registered under the .com TLD and it's normal that a lot of them will be dropped, while .co is in its first year (thats why you are not seeing any dropped .co domain lol). Most of registrars put .co in the first plan just to sell as more as they can in this period of time (the time when .co is advertised a lot, marketing ways just to sell the product, whatever it is) and .com does not need any advertisement. The .co ccTLD will remain a ccTLD nothing more! Colombians government decided this since 2004!! Now let me say you something about the .co era bullsh*t When .cm was opened for registration in public, everybody was excited, a lot of them registered a lot of .cm domains (reg fee was around mid $xx) and thought now they will be rich lol. Now check again the .cm market, it is 0, no one is interested anymore, even in good keywords! The same will be with .co, there will be a shinning period and than everyone will forget about it.
Maybe they should reduce the price, but that would mean every scammer would purchase the available TLDs.
I dont think it would catch on! unless if it would supported by Global Webmaster Fertinity then it has some bright chance to Roll ON
grab the opportunity i've buy couple nice .co domain it still hard to be accepted in beginning but when it published in adv etc it attract a lot reader. so agree with JohnyFund - welcome to .co era
Check out how many .cos are going to be listed on ebay near expiration for 99 cents.Thats how much they should be charging to register them btw.
Some people here say the .com is full, nothing is left. And i say to them, so what? domains that are registered and sitting ideal, there are many of those domains, trading domains is something that is done daily. companies who want to create sites will always look for .com domain, and the cycel goes on and on. is it a problem for a company to buy a good .com domain altough less and less good ones are available for free? not really, people sell domains here in dp for cheap anyway, there's no hype around domain selling, domains are sold at cheap, and pricey domains are sold at higher price. its all a one big trading market. free domain available is only important to those who can spend little money on a site, and on a domain, those people will never push the new domain extensions to a whole new level of popularity, they are un capable of doing so. The big money, is where the pricey domains are. And who really is aware of new domain extensions? no one, only webmasters know of these new extensions, regular customers do not. There is no real push and marketing to those new extensions, no serious websites are built with them. It's all one big hype to make godaddy richer. IMHO... and besides, .co is like .com , one letter less. and you can't spell it right, it's just gets stuck in your mouth
