Do you think the .CO domain will catch on?

I am trying to get some input as to whether or not the .CO domain will become one of the major world players in the domain name race. I think that it WILL become one of the most used domains by 2013.

    Thoughts?

Next up... reduce the registration to $10.

Then... wait patiently until the pressure of next year when people hunt around for transfers/renewals under $20 (but right before that start talking about a new premium round of auctions).

My thought, may have gained some credibility by 2013 but definitely not one of the most used.

No it definitely will not. .tv and .cc were pushed hard about 10 years ago. .com has and will remain king.

.co is hype, Sure some names will get a good price but in general it is not a wise extension for development in my honest opinion.

Maybe, I wouldn't doubt it. .com has been king for too long - there's barely anything left to register :p. But obviously, don't see established businesses getting rid of the .com for a .co or whatever..

What you said can be true. At the moment there are registered too much .co domains most of them are used (developed).
.co/.tv/.de/.fr/.co.uk will be on top as ccTLDs (gTLDs will be for sure the most requested domains).

.com will remain the king. .co can be the next .net or .org, but will never replace the .com

.com is the BIG brother and the old guys are hard to be beat

    Not for long.

.COM is now full, now it's time for .CO to be filled.

Sure it'll be big, with spammers and domain squatters.

I think a lot of startup brick and mortar, even online, businesses will jump at an opportunity for a good .co domain, mostly because its business oriented.

So yeah, I think it will pass other tlds, like .ws, .info, .net, .cc, in terms of immediate demand because business thrives on the Internet, and a .co signifies coorporation, the main and essential business tool.

in my own observation, I still find it hard to use .co as everyone is more familiar in using .com, there are still millions or billions(who knows) of .com's which are available to use, so I guess .com will still be hard to beat as people or businesses will work on adjusting to the availability of the .com that they can use.

    .com.co is for colombia.
.co is for international use and can geo target.

It is for Colombia. The only problem is that lemmings fall for the "it's the next .com!!!1" hype.

.us is garbage, unless you are in united states
    ( & you do not mind fbi,cia,secret service abuse 24/7/365 )

many registrars are dropping .us and .com
and just listing .co as the prime concept.

.co is international, more international than
    .Com will ever be.

i know this post i am posting might sound political rather
than professional business type, but after what george bush
did to middle east and the whole world, and yet united states
dared to vote for him again..

the world is officially "cold" of united states and it
would do anything to forget about united states.

even if it means getting rid of whatever has 'american'
aroma and texture, such as '.com' and '.us'

you wont see the world supporting .com or .us in the
future but they will likely to adopt other extensions
from countries that play a decent role in the world.

there will likely be another extension that will become
popular side by side with .co and i really do not believe
it will be an american one.

    due to george bush effect.

what george bush did wont be forgotten on this planet
for the next 80 years, especially for the next 20 years.

trust me, everything in this world is connectted to politics
    and the way people behave.

when you elect a president that behaves like a jerk
the world wont hire you. the world will fire you if it had
already hired you, the world will fire .com and .us

until it gets its' act together and frees up the immigration
and pays for it's crimes against planet earth, by locking up
george bush and adopting .co as the global standard.

.Com and .Us are officially associated with the serial killing
and mass murders of 1000's of innocent people in iraq and
    middle east.

Iraq war had nothing to do with OIL it had something to do
with .Com, the real truth that never gets discussed is this...

Google brainwashed america into electing george bush so
that he could bomb the people in middle east that spoke a
language within which the term 'Goo' meant 'Poo'...

Think about it, if your name was "Google" who would you
have voted for in 2000 if you had the most money in america?

especially if your name also started with the letter "G"..

    like "George Bush"..

and who would you have eliminated in this world first?

the country that says "Goo" means "Flowers" in our native language
or the country that says "Goo" means " Poo " in our native language?

    welcome to the jungle.

it's anything goes george bush style. and i think earth is interested
in going george bush on ".Com" and ".Us" era.

say hello to the beginning of the .Co ERA
