I was just looking around online and keep seeing these adverts for the Alpecin shampoo. I read up on it and it says its a caffeine based shampoo designed by a german company that is supposedly helping to stop hair from falling, and also to possibly re-grow hair. I read mixed reviews, and this article seems to disagree with their study: http://www.alpecinshampooreview.com/does-the-alpecin-caffeine-shampoo-work/ But what do you think? has anyone used it before? and do you think it works? any first impressions on this?
Hair loss is usually genetic. Trying to fight something that is deeply inrooted in your DNA won't accomplish anything. There's a chance of restoring hair follicles if they were damaged by excessive hair coloring or exposure to other harsh chemicals, but to believe that you can restore or regrow hair if the natural hair loss is already occurring is unrealistic. This and other similar companies are playing on people's emotions (on their sense of desperation) duping them in the process. Some of my friends tried all kinds of remedies that promised to regrow their hair. Nothing ever worked. What does work is surgical hair restoration (hair hransplants).
thanks for your comment. I understand what you mean about playing on people's emotions - many companies seem to be doing that. But as far as genetics and DNA is concerned, a lot of new studies are showing that your DNA is constantly changing, and by adopting a different lifestyle, it already starts to change. But anyway, it doesnt sound like caffeine will do much for hair anyway. I was only wondering what others thought, as its so convincing sometimes how these companies portray themselves.
Most of the "solutions" for hair loss are topical (you apply to your skin and hair.) Their "approach" is to use techniques similar to farming for crops (you add fertilizer, insecticides, etc.) The problem is that male pattern baldness (the most common hair loss) is caused by your hair follicles shutting down. Of course, they are under the skin, which is a great protector of all of our body parts. As a consequence, the ability of any "solution" to get to the hair follicles is very limited. That is why these "breakthrough" products never work. If your hair loss is caused by other issues (disease, poor nutrition, etc.) then vitamins/nutritional supplements can actually work (I have seen this occur with family members) because they get into the blood stream which is able to get to the hair follicles. Unfortunately, this approach will not work with male pattern baldness because the mechanisms that cause the hair follicles to shut down are not yet completely understood, despite years of intensive research. Note: If a true "cure" for male pattern baldness is actually found, you will not hear about it first from an advertisement. It will be all over the newspapers, television, etc., because it is such a big topic for so many people. So, if you are reading about something in an advertisement only, it is just the next ruse to get your money.
Stress and depression can also lead to hair loss, its the body sending a message that something is not right. I tried black seed oil and that worked a little. You can also try olive oil and rosemary in a mixture. Fry the rosemary in the olive oil and apply it regularly, works better after washing hair. I have seen some improvement but personally i should be more consistent.
