It's not just you. I agree. I have no idea where Josh is coming from, other than to simply bring up old history that is not relavent to modern times.

Is where I am coming from.

The post asks if we think some American would attack Asian people, then says that a Korean friend of his expressed concern over the question due to the recent events at Virginia Tech.

Ah, so you changed it then. Because if you had followed the chain of posts back, to where I responded to ahkip, where he had responded to your post of:

then you'd be up to speed and see that my post was right on target.

Where you trying to slip one by ol' GTech? ;)

I’m not sure what the answer to your question is, I would hope not.

My take on it is whenever someone commits a crime he or she should be punished for that crime, it’s crazy to blame race.

Good and bad people are in all walks of life.

My heart goes out to the victims and their families.

    Thanks Brian

In the second quoted post (post #16 by thread count) I posted a direct response to the OP. The original post is where "I was coming from", i.e. The reason for my post. The posts details my opinion on the question, and gives my reason for my opinion.

And I do believe that history is generally relevant to the present day, for several reasons. First of all, what came before helps to shape what is now. Secondly, I was pointing out a prejudice which may become the source of a hate crime. I also explained one reason why that prejudiced exists. The reason it exists has historical roots. Therefore, historical data is relevant to the forming of my opinion on this matter.

There we go. "May" "if" "might" "could be"

There's that recognizable pattern we've all come to know and love.

Yep, I agree, it's nothing more than an opinion.

Yes. It is only an opinion. One based off of study and information. That's what the original poster asked for. What people think. I even gave reasons for it.

Do you expect people to be able to predict the future with certainty? Can you?

I don't expect the history you suggest will repeat itself. Apparently others felt the same way. I also know we have many modern precidents to illustrate what you are suggesting, for the mere sake of bringing up old history, is not going to happen.

I don't call it a prediction though. I call it common sense.

I am not suggesting it for the purpose of bringing up "old history". I bring up history, which some still living can remember, as part of the general background which helps to form my opinion that a possibility exists.

And if you say "this will not happen" then you are giving a projection for whether something will or will not happen in the future, and that is arrogance, pure and simple.

Do weathermen say "this is what WILL happen" or do they give projections based on their data about current situations, and the way that the weather has behaved in the past?

    We are not discussing weather.

Still trying to determine if you are being willfully obtuse or you are really this dense. Which one works best for you?

No. We are not. I was illustrating a concept by using an unrelated field in order to remove the concept from the current charged atmosphere of the thread. This technique is similar to using a metaphor or simile.

I reject the premise of your question, as it is a false dichotomy.

Ablaye, I think you are the hatemonger. I saw your thread you put up yesterday about "jewishness" to bash alll the jews and it seems you must be suffering from a lot of hate inside you. Gtech is not insignificant and I could read his posts all day long. I think it is you that are polluting the forum, not Gtech.

Maybe because you agree with what Gtech has to say. I am not the hatemonger. The zionist hate crew are the ones who started posting threads insulting Islam and muslims.
It's funny how you are a hatemonger ONLY when you are "seen" attacking jews (which I am not. I am attacking the zionists). You can bash christians and muslims all day long, and it is ok.

I recently did some research on the team Zionist, just to figure out what the heck he was talking about.

Zionism was a movement to create a Jewish state, this is partially what lead to Israel. The Zionist movement is currently concerned with the preservation of Israel.

So basically a Zionist is anyone who wants to keep Israel on the map, rather than having it disappear.

Wrong. A zionist is a person who believes that the entire state of palestine belongs to the jews and the jews only. A zionist is a person who advocate ethnic cleansing of palestinians.
Zionism = Racism, at least most people outside of the US believe.

    How so?

    http://depts.washington.edu/asianll/lang_degs/prog_korean.html

    Koreans are considered Asian.

Or maybe you think the University of Washington needs a geography lesson as well.

The only people advocating ethnic cleansing are Muslims like yourself who have a deep rooted hate for Jews.
