Do you think microsoft killed yahoo? Or do you think it died its own death by not updating its email interfaces, by shutting down APIs etc?
My personal opinion is Microsoft killed many things which were doing great in past. Two things are in mind right now SKYPE : Previous version was much better than current. Have to manage all chat in single window ... previously different window for chat. I use skype currently also, but its not reliable like before according to me. Yahoo Mail : Now its known as "Once Upon a time there was a Good mailing system" .... Now its looks like advertisement platform.
Deal done before few years .... and then after if you will notice ..... Skype need microsoft login ....... If your account at skype before means now you can access microsoft account also by that credentials.
I have forgotten my Skype Id... LOL Its been so long since I used it. I think last time was in 2013-2014 or something. Was a good software though.
If they would stay out of politics. Any service that takes a hard-line position on the issues will piss off half of their users. Stay neutral, mind your own business and you will enjoy longevity and success.
@qwikad.com Are you saying that Yahoo became political in their presentation of news etc? Or did you meant something else? I did not get your point.
truly to say never used yahoo as for me i trusted more gmail ,of course any system can spoil or do mistakes etc. but i think gmail and in general google is best and more trusted.
Not just mail, was talking about Yahoo overall. I also use gmail only, but I use it because of pop access, no other reason for using it.
WHEN Microsoft bought Nokia. As a result, she herself could not produce normal smartphones and killed the company.
Microsoft really does not understands "phone" market. They foolishly tried to bring back Nokia 3310 model, which was popular 20 years back. It was popular back then because at that time this was the model which looked sleek, easy to use, and was very stylish for the time. Other phones looked like a piece of brick before it. Today this phone looks like a brick compared to other phones that are out there in the market. Who is going to buy it now? Only if Microsoft could have understood the problem in their thought process, they would not have killed so many businesses they acquired.
One important point is Microsoft can buy and he is buying ...... May be he is planing something new for future ..... like Window. According to my experience all fashions which are created by human will repeat after some duration ....... like Jeans, T-shirt and many more thing ..... so i can say that he is planning something new which will be completely different than current technology. I am not sure but if he is buying and buying then i am sure he will have solid plan for future. Collapsing competitors for something new ........ marketing strategy ????
Almost everything that MS touch is killed. Skype was used widely but after they owned it, everyone flew somewhere else. This is because MS is associated with privacy issues and hacking.
Not sure about the privacy and hacking issues, but one problem with MS is that they buy businesses when they are already falling down a hill. Google was picking momentum, yahoo was going down, MS bought it here. Skype was good, but many other messangers had already come in the market like whatsapp which were picking momentum, and this is where MS bought Skype. Did the same with Nokia. Android was out, companies were making cheaper and cheaper smart phones, and MS goes and buys Nokia which was still running that old platform. They surely replaced old OS with their windows OS, but by then both Apple and Android had already captured a big share of the market. MS could have still killed Apple, but they did not see how hand held devices were changing life style of people... Google does a much better job at acquiring businesses. They have had their share of failed businesses too, but they still did way better than MS.
i don't really know how they made the assessments to consider buying a company. terrible decisions i guess but they are doing this over and over.
@etc I agree, MS is repeating the same thing over and over again. It has become like a signature of MS!!! LOL
I do not use Yahoo as a search engine. I have only a couple of emailaddresses at Yahoo. In the beginning Yahoo offered all citizens/users OUTSIDE of the US Yahoo emailadress with their own TOP domain (country code) eg. . I living in Sweden. And I still have it and use it!
