Microsoft will never die lol, they created WINDOWS, own Msn search engine which isnt too bad, and many other things like the new voice activation thing in cars!, they own tons of software products, the list just keeps going and going, they are making billions a year if they were to die , computers/technology would not be the same without windows/microsoft.

I dont think micro$ost will die soon or may be ever!!!!!
because as you can see: they find new stuff like every month! lol no one thought there will be such stuff as Windows Vista! seriously!!!!! And how about game consols?

Xbox360 and they also have some games too! Like now they have share on "call of duty"!

Suddenly you will see Micro$oft is ruling the whole world. [Just kidding]

I think this thread is pretty rhetorical really, Microsoft is a BIG company with HUGE revenue, plus they know what they are doing. Business wise they can't be touched, and I think they have a lot coming to them.

They are so big that I dont think it would be possible for anything to happen to them, they could just release something new and make lots of money all over again.

And they are pretty well into the comnsumer market now with gaming consoles, so as long as people keep playing xbox they will be sorted.

Microsoft still does a lot regardless of how vista failed, they produce huge ammounts of hardware products and products in the entertainment industry (xbox etc.)

And hold the most sucessful entertainment franchise in history (halo 3)

Microsoft products are relied upon by 98% of corporations around the world. World governments would never allow such a scenario because Microsoft's importance is so incredible that a business failure would be detrimental to world economy and overall stability.

Companies like Microsoft won't die, so of their products may become obsoleted but they will evolve more into different areas, take IBM for example, it has changed its business model drastically and is now a very successful story.

Microsoft have a very strong foundation, patents and is cash rich. It will be here to stay for a long long time.

Just because they don't do as well as google on the net, there is no company that does better than them in this field on the whole.

Microsoft will be around for many years to come. They've essentially monopolized the OS market. Mac's cannot compete with Windows and lesser used platforms like Linux just don't have the public appeal or funding to dethrone Microsoft. They're also have some of the most widely used software around outside of their OS and their only software that's being slightly threatened is Internet Explorer. They're diversified enough that if one of their sectors tanks then they'll have many more to back the company.

Microsoft won't be going out of business anytime soon mainly because currently most of the people use microsoft products for their business and personal use. Once people get used to a product, no matter how bad it is, they don't wanna change. Most people resist change fiercely.

And nowadays there's no viable alternative to microsofts products in general as the implementation is so strong.

Microsoft is slow in accepting new ideas but once it realizes true potential, it will put R&D and Marketing team on highest gear to get competitor wiped out. The good examples are Netscape and Delphi (GUI). Microsoft has good cash balance any time they are in position to buy companies.

In near future I see Microsoft buying AOl or yahoo or ASK or some chances of merging with SAP.

The company is there for long time and yes Bill Gate won't be longer #1 rich man of world.
    thx
