Do You Think It's Unethical For Somebody To Fake Their Earnings or Traffic Stats?

It seems that people these days are willing to do anything and say anything to make the sale. Some people create fake earnings statements and traffic stats to mislead unwary customers. These pages are pretty simple to create and seem to fool a lot of people. Do you think this is unethical?

Personally, I think it's unethical and any business engaged in that form of lying is no good. Affiliate networks are now tightening the reins when it comes to declaring sales figures on sales pages. Some require a disclaimer now and prohibit the use of false timeframes and limited availability.

It is outrageous. Every month I publish my earnings and will HAPPILY show evidence when people challenge me. Anyone who fakes their own earnings is beyond contempt in my view.

Of course it is unethical to publish false earnings. But, you can't take anything related to sales at face value. You can't look at a number and just dive into the pond. Check the quality of the water as well as its temperature first. Don't become shark bait.

I hear about people lying about traffic stats all the time, too. But, honestly, this is pretty easy to verify, so the lie can find them out pretty easily. Aside from that, lying is one of the top 10 - you know - the THOU SHALL NOTS. =)
