Allow me to understand feminism a little more: why in the world the feminists don't do much for their fellow female friends in muslim nations who are not enjoying not even a quarter of the inequality the women in the west enjoy?

Why not take up the cause of the women in Islam. You know the ones that can't play sports or drive cars (Saudi Arabia)? Why not picket around the Arab embasyies?

Or is feminism just something for the West?

I don't believe that's true, at least not for me. I've always wanted to help out the oppressed women in muslim nations. They're number one on my list because they need the most help!

LOL. What??? You got a problem with feminism being discussed on your thread? What are you some kind of a male dominating freak?

OK, back to the thread, you honestly see nothing wrong with Halloween? Look at the things it promotes: witchcraft, occult, horror, etc. And you don't think it's of the devil?

Celebrating Halloween for Christians is like asking Jews to celebrate the birth of Hitler.

Witchcraft is not of the devil, the devil comes from Christians. You do understand this do you not?

Grim is the voice of reason. Witchcraft is so harmless Harry Potter should be compulsory reading in Christian schools. Hang on. Let me put that sarcastic icon so you know I am being sarcastic.

That answered my question did it? You do realise the 'devil' is apart of Christians and not 'Witch Craft' do you not?

You do also realise not all witch craft is evil do you not, or are you incapable of knowing this fact?

Wow! A little touchy arent you? I asked a simple question and I get attacked :D

The writer never said anything about witchcraft being harmless. In fact they made no judgement call whatsoever.

Witchcraft has nothing to do with the devil, the devil is a Christian idea. The original celebrants of what we now call Halloween knew nothing of a devil, let alone believe in one. Wicca is widely misunderstood and is in no way related to Satan or the devil. Those are just the historical facts

What? In the US anyway, just about every religion freely accepts the holiday as a pop culture icon... It's historically a Pagan holiday. Either way, we used to trick or treat every where as kids, even the Rectory at the Catholic church I attended..

Can't a holiday just be a holiday? Next thing you know people will be trying to ruin or take away Christmas claiming it is a religious holiday.. Of course those of us in the US, know it is not.

Halloween has nothing to do with the devil.. Do some research man...

    Glad someone noticed that ;)
Every year this same debate goes on, news will even interview religious figures and almost all of them will say let the kids have fun. They of course find one or two nut jobs who are totally against it, screaming about the devil.

Allow me to respond with a quote from the world's best selling book: "Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totaled fifty thousand pieces of silver." From the book of Acts 19;19.

I don't know about you but speaking from a Christian perspective you have hear clear proof that once confronted with the Truth, the dudes above decided it was best to get rid of their books that influenced them.

For all the christians that think Halloween is of the devil. Basically you are saying, for children to go around in costumes celebrating and laughing while getting candy, it dooms them an eternity of suffering. Wow, the fact that people seriously believe that disturbs me. Do you really think you are spiritually higher than the kids that go around asking for candy, atleast they aren't a slave of beliefs based on fear.

You look for something wrong in everything. The Devil is a CHRISTIAN thing - witches had nothing to do with it. As a matter of fact, as I believe someone already pointed out, Wiccans don't even BELIEVE in the devil.

I don't see the problem with children running around in costumes and getting candy. There's nothing remotely "devilish" about it.

The truth as YOU see it, not all others. Some convert from Christian beliefs to Wiccan and Muslim, etc does that automatically equal them being confronted with the truth?

What does any of this have to do with 'evil' or the 'devil?'

Very simple, do you realise the DEVIL is a CHRISTIAN belief and not that of Witchcraft? Are you not capable of answering these extremely simple questions? Are all you capable of is ranting with nonsense?

If that's your extent it paints a very piss poor picture for christians, as a chrisitan I for one would hope you'd stop as you make the rest of us look nuts and out of touch with reality.

BTW to quote you from above

WTF seriously does this have to do with anything? Nobody is forcing a religious school to teach other religions, that would be YOU who is for forcing your religion onto others. Stop making accusations of your own short comings onto others.

Um...what the hell does Feminism got to do with Halloween, or as I prefer to call it Samhain..(pronounced saw-ain or sow-ain)? As far as any specific "devil" is concerned, the biggest and worst devils I've ever met or heard of are walking around in human form everyday...just read or listen to the news. Yeesh people! If having informative books around influence you so much that you have no control over your own personal thoughts and will, then maybe you need to get a life. I personally think burning books is an evil thing to do...but I notice that many churchians and muslims really go for it. Samhain is a holiday...and a FUN holiday when brainwashed idiots don't go and try to spoil it for everyone else. Whether you're Pagan, Agnostic, Atheist, or what ever...Samhain, or Halloween, should just be enjoyed and religiosity kept out of the equation.

I don't get you. I wonder when was the last time you went to church or when was the last time you read the Bible. I gave you the quote that Jesus himself said He is the Truth and you still don't get it? If Jesus is the truth what does that make the rest?

The devil is NOT a Christian belief. You have the devil in many other religions starting with Judaism. Proof enough for you it's not just the Christians that believe that.

So walking around dressed like monsters, witches and reading occultic books is OK for Christian children? Where you get that idea from? Next you'll tell me all religions are the same.
