I know they have Googlepages but do they have a hosting service? If they would have one would you buy it from them if it wasnt too expensive.
Googlepages pretty much is there hosting service. If they ever did REAL hosting, I probably wouldn't use them, as I'm set with my VPS. I'm sure if they created a standard control panel, it would be somewhat popular.
Like Yahoo and others Google have an obvious free hosting service for web pages in various guises Google also have an SEO site though true to their word they do not recommend it It has not perhaps been written about enough in the public domain but Google results are partly due to clusters of Linux driven machines as opposed to Microsoft so it would seem to me imho that Google must then of course have a a hand or two in and to play in the hosting market like it does in others As any sensible company would do or at least take a look into doing
I would definitely purchase it if they did! Im sure that the sites that are hosted with it would have special ad sense privileges which would pay for the hosting in the long run!
If Google provided real hosting, it would probably be flooded with all kinds of lame TOS and not have good prices either. In addition, it most likely wont allow porn or warez.
I couldn't agree more. It's hard enough keeping my websites in good standing with Google now. I can just imagine the control they would insist on if they provided the hosting.
Google has been down before And yeah google hosting wouldnt surprise me like ghost or somethin.. like gmail idk
They are currently testing the waters, I doubt they will be doing a full fledged web hosting service, but they may just give a free domain with basic hosting just to spite Live.
No chance in my opinion. That is very little money compared to what they make w/ there other programs. They don't need it..
I highly doubt that Google would kill the hosting industry if they started offering real hosting. Just look at the TOS for Google Checkout to get an idea of the types of businesses they wouldn't accept. There are enough there to keep the real hosts in business.
Do any of you reall use Google Checkout ^^ e-bay still wins lol.. and i feel sorry for Yahoo Shopping..
I think that the overhead costs of hosting vs. running "software exclusive" services such as advertising programs, search engine, etc. is too expensive. I think they'll stick with what they're doing unless they contract it out.
