Lol. I asked what time it is (and the bot responded okay)... but when I asked "You: What color is the the Napoleon's white horse?" - that made it silent :D

Everybody thinks exit popups don't work, yet I can bet that none of you guys have actually tried using them. You have to remember that sometimes business is about what works best. People that depend on what they like or don't like often overlook opportunities.

For another thought, everybody thought George Bush wasn't going to be elected back in office for a second term. Every single poll they were running said that everybody was against Bush. And what happened? The polls were wrong! You may think that everyone feels pop-ups are annoying, but people are just speculating on that.

Well, this started by people discussing whether they are annoying ;) But you've got a point there.

And like discussed earlier: many people agree that they can work - if done properly.

Exit popups are annoying for me. Personally I wouldn't use them.

In the realm of pop-ups I think this one is the least annoying if used creatively. I think some new piece of information has to be added, some added incentive, to whatever it is you want the viewer to do. The worst offenders to me are pop-ups that immediately get in your way upon entry to a website, before you even have a chance to know what the website is about. And they get in the way of you finding out. With the exit pop-up, you're about to leave anyway so it's not something that gets in the way of viewing the site. If you can adjust the frequency for this type pop-up, and it seems you can with some, then this is certainly worth a try.

If they help in sales, go for it! I never had a big problem with them.

They do help in converting your sales, and yes they are annoying but the are an effective if used properly. They work great on landing pages, viewer goes to leave and they get another small sales pitch and a second chance to buy/sign up.

Compared to what they USED to be, pop-ups these days aren't really a problem. I remember when I would view a website and about 50 pop-ups would come out of nowhere. NOW that's annoying!!

I hate exit popups. Unless the site is really great, I will avoid sites that use exit popups.

I personally don't like them and is the reasons I use popup blockers. Good luck on what ever you do though.
