Please don't be too hard on him. He's not the bad guy. The people running the presses at the FED are the bad guys.

Most of my neighbors drive 45 minutes to an hour or more away for work. They quickly went out and bought smaller cars simply to get to work, but damn I can tell they are hurting.

My one neighbor, the guy is a manager, his wife never worked 'since I lived here' now she's back to work though.

I'm glad I work at home. To drive to my uncles used to cost me $3 or so both ways. Now that my SUV doesn't get very good fuel economy it costs me about $20 or more!

    I will try :)

I have to say I don't understand his abnormally HUGE luggage rack thingy on his truck. He tells me it cuts his MPG by a third so that thing is costing him money! All for a luggage rack he uses once a month when he goes camping....

But, I guess I shouldn't be too hard on him. But, whenever he starts acting all fatherly on me saying I should be saving the money I use on my Xbox 360 and games, I should just remind him of his damn luggage rack!

If things don't improve soon our entire economy is going to completely crumble and there's going to be riots on every corner you turn. Hopefully Obama gets into office and starts changing things back to the way they used to be.

That's all we need as things the way they used to be. Watch the old TV show form the 1970s called 'Good Times'. The 1970's were rough. The price of gas doubled twice and it seemed that every couple of years there was a recession.

I suppose that you think that in the 60's, everyone in the US were rich hillbillies?

TV is fantasy, don't base any opinions on crappy US sitcoms.

Good Times set in chicago was based on the crappy economy in the 1970s and the struggles making ends meet.

Back to the way they used to be?

We're going to destroy billions in printed inflationary money, pay down the debt, stop both wars, take a ton of legislation off the books, and reverse the effects of globalization?

What will Obama do AFTER lunch on his first day?

    Touche!

Giving away these $$$ checks is like saying that I(George Bush) has messed up economy and debt, so this is on my part, is a poll gimmick, so that you can forget all the ills+sins of my past(Iraq).....these things happen in third world countries in order to woo voters through such acts....

The tax stimulus checks were designed so that we would spend that money on petty items. Unfortunately most of those items are made in China, so they will get the biggest boost from our tax stimulus...

Plus it's very possible they lent us the money to 'stimulate' themselves in the first place

With all this "self stimulation" maybe the tax stimulus checks are a sort of economic masturbation? :D

    Disturbing on so many levels.

    I thought he'd be taller.....

On a side note, here is what one man decided to do with his stimulus check:

Well first off where does the money come from?

    Do we:

    A. Print it.
    B. Borrow it.

Either way, we're paying for it either through inflation or taxes.

It's just a big con job.

America is a bunch of suckers.

If there is a fast crash, people will amend their ways, and policy will be changed to not let that happen again. If there is a slow crash, with people losing their standard of living very slowly, then the required change may not come. Maybe the FED will provide liquidity cushion to more banks, and they will just postpone the pain, and the bills for future generations to handle... Politicians will be ready to blame other countries for the decline in the Standard of living.

I am sure there can be a fast crash and a fast recovery. All they need is a "stimulus"
