I was thinking how much are we benefiting from saving energy becuase I think the less we use is the more we are charge. I think when we use less energy the utility companies make less money and becaue most of them arel private they will have to increase the price so that they can pay their investors. What do you think?
Conserving energy is a good thing when environment is concern. However, when money is concern in some aspects its not a good thing.
Where are you getting your info from...and where do you live for that matter? In North America, a majority of hydro providers are moving towards a billing structure where the rates are higher during peak hours, but much lower during off peak hours. This will make a lot of people re-think their usage habits...ie. running the dishwasher at night instead of after dinner, or using a clothes line instead of the dryer. Therefore, we're saving money by delaying our energy consumption to off-peak hours and reducing the load on our hydro plants, which will reduce the impact on the environment. A win for everyone in my opinion. Kevin
I worked for nevada power and northwest natural gas company and i can tell you that it is true the more you use the less you pay per khw or per btu.... large companies always got a lower rate than home owners or small businesses. I don't conserve nor will I. If I want to conserve I will make my own power supply and contribute and get paid for my grid by the company, until then they are still going to make or buy to exceed the demand.
