Checked into Yahoo Answers the other day and saw that they started "community moderation" to allow users to report spam, useless answers and other junk. They have implemented a reputation system to manage this, hoping to limit the abuse of the reporting method. Not sure how long this has been going on, but I think it is in the right direction although might be a little too late. Yahoo answers is messy. If the quality of questions is tolerable, the sheer volume of junk, rude, or completely false answers are all over the place. A good idea, but managed horribly. It is disappointing to see that Google actually started ranking those answers pretty high in SERPs. Just my opinions of course. Anyone liked Yahoo answers? Do you think the rating system will help them?
i used to use yahoo answers as a form of promotion for my own website, after a while the questions become pathetic, the one word answers were pointless and the whole system looks a sham. when i see such a service unmoderated and with so much spam blatently being used in pretty much every question, and with such a large company with capital their to invest in moderators, i decided to walk away. the only way i will ever go back and use the site is if they really do moderate the system, and put something into place that will cut down the amount of spam there. if they put such things into plce i will consider going back and using the service, as i do thing the service is a very good idea which can make them a lot of money!!!
