Compared to the .eu domain extension .asia has not recieved as many appliactions, but .asia has got a large population so do you think .asia will be successful? or will it be a flop just like the .eu has been so far. Sorry if there has been a similar topic I couldn't find it.
asia does have the largest internet population, and the largest global population. That is why I feel like it'll be worth something
each asian country also has their own ccTLD some of which are *successful* already like .jp. Do you really expect a sudden shift in advertiser dollars trying to rebrand an entire area which speaks a multitude of languages and are very different? I certainly don't. If anything had a chance it was .eu, but that flopped... so will this. No relatively new gTLD has really gone *mainstream* joining the ranks of CNO though each time a bunch of speculators rant and shout saying it will be... this time. No. It won't be this time, or the next time. Everytime they come up with convenient arguments that this is why it will succeed ignoring the one fundamental flaw in all their logic: money. How many years have CNO been branded (alongside ccTLDs of many countries) by every company large and small into consumers' minds? Of course you will see a few successful sites on each of these new tlds eventually, they are exceptions, not the rule. Generally, they are successful because of content not because some huge advertising campaign put them there (which is what has branded existing TLDs well beyond any of this new crap). Every day I watch TV, listen to news, read a newspaper, .com, .com, .com, .com, .com, .org, .com, .net, .com.... That is the consumer experience. Of course, people will make money on every new extension as speculators pass domains around in a giant incestuous game of hot potato. Don't get caught holding it. The real winner is the new registries, especially now that they are auctioning off premium stock instead of selling at registration fee.
true point but I was thinking that even though they have got a big population their internet access is limited for the time being. I think you have point here, a lot reports were saying that companies were buying the domains to avoid fraud etc...but then again who knows.
major brands will protect their mark in any extension, that is how registries know they will earn a baseline revenue (brand protection + certain keywords are taken in EVERY extension by speculators/corps). Protecting their mark and investing are very different beasts.
i hope my friend. But it takes so "long" time i think. .asia is expensive and not so popular. But if you have money and you can wait, i advice , wait some more.
