    Hi, All.
Do you submit your directory to DMOZ? Did anyone get approved?
And what category do you submit to? I can't find category for general directory.
    Thank you.

Directories have to be very comprehensive and/or offer features that are more than a list of links that can be mined to stand much of a chance. That is extremely difficult if your directory is some form of global generic directory but very easy if you focus on a narrow niche. Also they have to be real directories not advertising classified into categories. Because of the weight of spam, general directories are another of those categories that attract few editors and therefore have exceptionally long waits for review.

The best advice on getting a directory into DMOZ is to make its content highly specialist and the most comprehensive in the world, and add plenty of unique background information. Submit to the niche category.

Already working on it, by the time I'm done there will be more links to my sites at DMOZ then if I wasn't removed as editor - I would have been busy listing other people sites and had less time to build my own websites. ;)

Why don't you parse your old categories and pick the whole lot up in one go, then add the new ones to the bottom. That is what I've been doing.

I had a very, very niche directory, and I found out THE HARD AND CRUEL WAY that it was not listable.

Still not sure why exactly, but I no longer need to know ;-)

I would say lack of tons of background info. It is the sort of directory that DMOZ would say you should mine not list. ;)

I did submit my web site two months ago but when I compare myself to those who have been waiting for years I just keep quiet
