    I use microsoft XP. My friend using Vista and he said that some old softwares are not compatible with it.

    I totally agree. I have a desktop Ubuntu and it's enough as far all "home" purposes are concerned. Sometimes it takes a while to get used to all that free software and non-windows interfaces, but in general you can handle it if you try.
    Yet in work - when you need to get things done fast - I use Win XP laptop.

    vista having problems doesnt mean windows sucks
    its like either using the stable version or a beta version
