Hello, im wondering what you think about the calendar being included in worpress blog themes, do you think its an old fashioned addition now?

    Im considering not including it.

Id also be interested to hear of anything you prefer to leave out of blog themes, WP preferably, thanks.

Most blogs aren't reliant on dates so the calendar serves little purpose. Sites that promote concerts and/or special events would probably continue to use some form of calendar...

I think it comes down to personal choice. Afterall, that's what blogging is about. I don't have a calendar showing in my blog as I have the archives listed monthly down the bottom. So I don't have really any need for a calendar. Some may say to remove it ASAP, but I think that if it makes it easier for your users/viewers then keep it. Typically this is not the case as many people don't go "Hey, I wonder what he posted on such and such date?".
Another point is that, if you have little content posted and you stick up the calendar, people will see how little you post and it CAN be a deterrent from staying on your site. As you can see, there are a lot of factors that influence the components of your blog and sidebar.

So, as I said, it really does come down to personal choice...

Not needed if you have the archives and the search button, but then again I have both and I still have the calendar as well lol.
