This is both a discussion and a poll so feel free to vote or reply. A post by another member got me thinking about USB Flash sticks. You know those tiny devices you plug into a computer and hold about 5GB. I remember a few years ago in college everyone used them. All your work was saved on them and I owned a few which all had daily use. I don't even own one anymore and haven't used one in 2-3 years thanks to file hosts like the early days of Rapidshare and now cloud computing companies like dropbox, iCloud, Google Documents etc. So do you still own a USB stick but if you do is it lying in a drawer gathering dust? If you own one when was the last time you used it?
I got my first USB stick somewhere around 2000/2001 - 256MB for $199 (still works, and I still use it). The most recent USB stick I bought was a tiny Verbatim 4GB for $12.
I do still using USB stick, it's always in my bag, I got it handy. The first USB stick I got is when I were in highschool, a 256MB KingSton, white body and blue on the side. I used it for about a month and got replaced with a bit larger one, 1GB, Transcend, black. That 1 GB is still with my right now, thus it's been more or less 5 years and I didn't ever got corrupted even once. Thanks God! ehehe ... To topic starter, You mean you are not using any USB stick because your files are saved on online file hosting? Is that really smart? I just asking because for me having offline copy is handy and up for grab at the moment we need it.
PS: Here's a simple tip to keep a tiny USB stick safe on your keychain... Heat shrink it. I keep the keys to the kingdom on my keychain USB stick... password database, license scans, phone numbers etc etc.
