It seems the pros in SEO don't really care about Page Rank very much. I certainly stopped paying attention when many pros didn't bother with it and my own experience showed it's correlation with rankings and traffic to be exceptionally poor. Many even think that Google purposely obscures it to confuse webmasters, and if I had to put money on it I would agree with them. Yet still I see people obsessing about Page Rank more than any other factor in SEO. Do you still care about Page Rank?
Yep, I care about Pagerank a lot. Actually you wouldn't like to know what I would do if I had a pr 7 or 8.
Be a link whore? Someone had to bite Honestly, the only people who care about PR is link sellers. Why else would you care about it.
I dont think its only link sellers who care about pagerank.... I have never sold a link, I dont link to any sites from my sites either... I still think pagerank is 99% of rankings, some dont want to call it pagerank and instead just say backlinks is all you need. Backlinks = Pagerank to me, so pagerank in itself isnt what im after but the more pagerank I have the more money im bound to make.
When google itself has said that it has stopped counting Page rank in terms of ranking - then what is the reason for us to care about it
I care about it to some extent... it's not as important as it used to be a few years ago. (imho). Bill
It depends on the purpose of the site in question. Whether it matters in terms of rankings, traffic and SERPS doesn't really make any difference when so many advertisers still care about it.
My view is that way too much (perceived) importance has been put on PR to the point of obsession. Sure - it's can be a bit of an ego boost to have a "big" PR but that alone is no guarantee of traffic or a high search position. Just my opinion..... Thanks, Andy.
Totally agree ........ doesn´t matter if you´ve got PR9, if your site is useless then all your visitors will just click away.
Pagerank is only useful if end users have a Google toolbar installed because many might not buy products from websites with no greenbar. Otherwise, pagerank plays no role when it comes to search engine ranking.
PageRank does not give you idea of how good you are doing. But it definitely tells you how bad you are doing.
I don't care at all about page rank - as long as my websites are earning me money, then it doesn't matter whether it's a PR0 site or a PR9 ! I suppose the only time it might still carry some weight is if I want to sell the website - higher PR websites generally sell at higher prices.
I care about Pagerank too When you sell a web site, the first thing buyer looks at is the Google pagerank.
Then...I guess the buyers are looking in the wrong direction. Pagerank has no value in my eyes... except for selling links and helping others get PR juice. A real IM man will always look for traffic stats along with the quality and quantity of backlinks a site possesses. Regards, RightMan
I care about the PR, too. I think that page rank is still important for SERP, link exchange and link trade, etc..
Some of us might say that page rank doesn't matters at all, however all of us does say that a site is an authority when we see high pr like 8,9,10 in the toolbar. And would also want to have a link or two from these sites. Now, tell me why wouldn't we care about it.
Yes, I do believe in it unless you have some factual evidence that proves that Pagerank plays a heavy role when it comes to ranking.
