I don't get crazy on link-building. All I did was post a link in one or two threads here, and I mentioned a couple on my Myspace page for a while. It was enough to get them crawled and get them some PR quickly, so I don't mind doing that. I definitely wouldn't take the time to do directory submissions or anything like that - heck, I don't even bother with that much at all for my main sites. :)

Is it not recommended to have too many lenses linking to my website? For instance, I have created what I consider cluster lenses where the main lens discusses my service and my other lenses discuss different aspects related to my service. Now, I only directly link to my site from the main lens and the other lenses link to the main lens. I was afraid to have too many links to my site for the same IP. Does anyone know if that would matter or should I just leave things the way I have it? Hope this post is not too confusing.

I don't think it's a problem. I tend to get ok PR (just got 5s on two of my newest sites for their first update), and I don't worry much about linking and IPs. I link heavily from my other sites, and still rank well without a problem. I'd leave it. I have a blog of mine added to several lenses, and no problems so far with getting it PR or anything. You'll get other links over time naturally if you're offering something worthwhile, so don't stress too much. :)

    Good news Janet!

Thanx for rating my lens as I have done yours...

Truth be told, it doesn"t take a lot of votes in my opinion, as my lens just went from 600+ in home business to 223 practically overnight!

And from 5000+ in overall to under 2000!

Or maybe it was just the updates and xtra home business content I added?

We will wait and see, but all in all Squidoo does work, and only after setting this up a few days ago can already see a bit of traffic!

If you have been following this,, my lens and new rank are at

    http://www.squidoo.com/freehomejobs/

Just something to think about; Because I also ad content or update weekly..

    Hi,

I added a lens (see m signature line) when this thread started as it was my introduction to Squidoo. I have been ranked as high as 6,000+ and as low as 1,300 or so. Seems to jump up and down fairly regularly. Some of this I attribute to the nature of my lens (only of interest to people who want to learn about Ethernet cables) and also to the fact that I go back every 1-2 weeks and add a little bit more content on another aspect of cables. Been an interesting ride and I am not sure if it has done anything to help my cable business, but it also did not cost me any money or much time.

One intereting twist is that because I am also an Amazon Merchant, I was able to set up purchase links to my own products on Amazon. Have not yet gotten a sale from Squidoo (as far as I can tell) but it would be interesting to earn a commission from Squidoo for the sale of my own product on Squidoo. :)

By the way, would appreciate visits to the lens, feedback ,etc.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but like anything else, the more you put in the more you get out. I like your cable lens, but with only one lens updated every week or two it will be difficult to see much traffic or results from it. Squidoo is basically a social bookmarking site, so you need to socialize to reap the rewards. I currently have 8 lenses and 3 groups. I take some time to update and work on my lenses daily. I have definately seen good results and plan on expanding my presence on the site even further. I really enjoy the squidoo community. They are a great bunch of people and I am having fun with it. I believe it will definately help my site in the long run.
