Do you smoke???

The physical addiction only lasts for two days, after that it's just a 'social' and association habit.

 

Every time i try and quit (i did quit for half a year 1s) i find myself missing holding something in my hands while i wait for a bus for example. Its just the routine thats hard to beat.

 

Exactly. The best thing you can do is to try and bear the association. Don't put yourself in the positions when you normally smoke. Either that or replace it with something else.

In our Vipassana meditation groups, there are always guys who come in trying to break the habit. Most of them report positive results after completing the course.
Some run away within a few days.

been smoking for 7-8 years now ... can't quit ... almost everybody I know smokes ...

 

maybe you can't quit because everyone you associate with participates in the activity. try and make new friends for a while next time you quit, then go back to the old ones when you've established strong new habits.

never smoked in my life, well, not cigerettes...I've had a couple stogies in the past couple years, but nothing regular. proud to not smoke, it's keepin me alive.

I quit 2 weeks ago. It sucks. I still want to smoke every single day.

i try to quit.. but i lowered the number of cigarttes a day.. t'waz almost 6-10 a day.. now just 2 a day or maximum 3..
but on weekends it goes almost 10

Just wait for the first month then it will get better.













NO IT WON'T. I quit for a month and then started again. Smoking is the best thing you can do when you are angry/unhappy/awake I mean its the best thing lol.

 

I've quit for about 8 or so months now, since the beginning of January. Usually I dont' miss it, but I can even admit when stressed/pissed etc I was so used to a cigarette taking the edge off, now I don't have that 'stress relief' it can cause me to be a bit 'out there' compared to what I should be Gets better with time...

Smoking however IS NOT the best thing, quitting or never starting is!
