hello, do you sell ebook(s) online? what guarantee you get that your customers will not share your ebook with there friends since it is writen in pdf... can you lock the ebook with there computer so that they cant share it with anyone else... actually i am writing a ebook and just now it come to my mind that a PDF can can be email to others... so i am thinking of a better way to lock the copy with a computer so that it will not work with others... but it can only be done using a Visual basic program... so do you know anyone will order this new system from me to sell there ebooks in more secure way... and if yes then how much i can sell this program.... however i think it should worth more then $50 because it will let you know who is using the copy and you can deactivate there copy from the web if they reverse your payment... and activation will be done by web... and lock the program with hardware so that it will not work with other computer... however i have not started to build the project... but i will start it as soon as someone is willing to order... so please reply if you think this will protect your ebook... and i will post the details how you can monitor your customers and who is using your copy....
It seems like a very good idea. How would this work? I can't seem to figure out in my head how you would even be able to do that. What if the person shuts off their internet? Then you can't deactivate it in any way.
Well, there are some products that can do that now. However, many sellers tend not to like using these programs because customers typically like .pdfs. It's sorta become the standard file. Plus, Mac users can't use .exe files.
well you will send them a EXE file when they run the program, it will show a serial number. your customer will send the serial number to you by email and you activate it on your server. once you activate there key, it will not show them the serial number and then the program will open and they will see the document... if they shut there intrenet off, then the program will not open on there side... the customer must have to connect to the internet... also your document should be writen in HTML and upload on your site in a password protected folder... the program will automatically download the password on the customers computer and then enter it to view the page... so by that way no one can visit the page even if they get your link because the password cannot be seen by anyone.... and you can change your password which will not effect the program because the program will download the password automatically from your site.... even you can provide review copy for one day... and without having to fear of losing sale because any reveiwer will not be able to share the copy with anyone... also you can add double protection to make sure the program is more secure... i will start to write the program after 2 days and make a sample for everyone to see... oh one more thing. because i will use advanced encrypted method inside my source code, so reverse engg will not let anyone see any any important data because the encryption will be done in the source code.... this will protect the program from crackers and pirated software makers... for security reason i cannot any anymore about what kind or secuity it will be.... but i want to know how much it worth.... or how much someone will pay me for this system..
Well if you are wanting to be that restrictive - why not just have a membership site where they pay a once off fee and have to log in to read the pages online - on the website. That way you get people back to your website. You can throw offers etc their way when they come back. It gives you more traffic. You can keep it updated. You can track their visits etc. Anyone with a Browser can access it. You can have a - Suggestion Form - Feedback form - even a Forum ---> Make it Social And on and on..... That is what I would do. but to get a website and make everything will cost me money and time as i will have to update it and monitor... but this system will not cost me anything.... and i dont have to do any update any others can use this system... managing a website need lots of time but this system dont need anytime...
