you received ping back or semi-spam comment? I 've got a lot comment that is semi-spam. Those people leave some 1-2 line comment with link back to his site. You can clearly see that he has nothing to say but want to get a link. Most of the time i chop the link and approve the comment ping back. Doesn't it make a hard earn one way link become a reciprocal link?
I normally approve any comment that has 2 or 3 lines of effort in it - whether it has a link or not. When I visit people's blogs I always try and leave a short and sensible comment before dropping a link so I don't mind when people do the same to me. Anything overtly spammy still gets dumped. Using Captcha catches out a lot of the automated spam.

Get rid of those - they're definitely spammy unless you're running a diet blog. In fact even if you were running a diet blog they'd still be spammy because they don't mention anything about the post they are replying to.
He is running a diet blog @ countryboy. Ahkip, I'd do what you have been doing- remove the link and let the comment in. Unless the link leads to something really informative for your readers, or a video/ story of the guy himself.
I think removing the link would be best .. they are definitely dropping a comment just to link back to their website.
