Just curious to know how many of you utilize .htaccess to redirect http://mywebsite.com to http://www.mywebsite.com
You can't control how people link to your site/pages but you can stop rankings being split between www and non-www with 301 redirects. It depends on the domain name as to whether I use the www subdomain or not, but yes I always choose one and redirect the other to it.
I redirect to the non-www domain, it just means that visitors and PR aren't shared between them. And it heklps with forums i've noticed.
