I see many experienced webmasters say that there are no secrets to Adsense and/or generating traffic. That is to say, the knowledge is already out in the open (on DP forums or other website forums).

For example, they say to do well in Adsense and get traffic, you need to create good content, write articles, etc. This is no secret, right?

I wonder though if there are actual real secrets out there, but the webmasters that know about them don't want to say publicly what they are for fear of the secret getting exploited.

So, as an anonymous poll, I thought it might be interesting to get an idea of whether or not these "secrets" actually do indeed exist.

So the question is "Do you have a special webmaster secret that you aren't telling anyone? A secret tactic or process that you do that works excellent, but you have rarely seen it mentioned anywhere on any forums?"

I don't want to know what it is, so it's still a secret. Just want to know if they "exist". LOL

Darn, I wish I could edit this poll so that it has an option for both Adsense and traffic. Is there a mod that can fix this?

It's more like, the secret is: "you do what works best for you". What works for one site, does not always work for another. The key ingredients are really, good content and lots of traffic.

I have been finding all sites react different to different setups. The only secret that I have found is finding this right setup to generate the clicks. It is always painful when you try something that does not work, but the upside is that we learn from it. I am sure that some may secrets to acheiving high CTR, but for most it is just a matter of experience as I am finding along with advice from those on this forums that have made those mistakes allready.

My secret: find out what everyone is doing and do the opposite. For example short domain names are hot commodoties so I did the opposite.

Ah, but if it's too long to remember then they'll have to bookmark it and post links about it. Lucky me for cut & paste:)

I have a traffic generating secret that has worked on every type of website I have ever created. I know it would continue to work with any topic, regardless of layout or anything else.

Build sites for high demand items that are also expensive. Most people look for deals and are willing to click adsense if they feel the deal is worth it. Therefore you can have low traffic and still get high conversion.

We all have secrets. Most of them don't work, and they are probably secret because we don't want to be laughed at... but we all have a few things we do that we just don't talk about.

See, now this is what I'm talking about. If you are serious and not being sarcastic, then all I can say is "damn, that's one valuable secret". LOL

There's no question you can be successful the "no secret" way (eg. articles, link exchanges, SEO, etc.), but when someone says "there are no secrets", how can they be so sure?

I have a secret about adsense... but I have decided I would never share it because I think it might negatively impact adsense as a whole.

It is not a cheat or violation, it is simply a bit of knowledge that is not publicly known, that if were known might not be to the benefit of the program.
