Do you read every new post on your forum? I do most of the time unless it's a looooooong and boring topic, lol.
yes i do, im still trying to build up my forum and get it so it runs itself and becomes active so i reply to any new post/threads.
I feel that I need to seeing Im the admin. I guess its my responsability to make sure all posts are not violation my terms!
One on my forum has about 2 million posts (2 years old) - and I've got some more message boards, I take care of dozens sites... so no, I don't read every post there
I don't do it either, hmmm have some better ways to spend my time 993ti has like the coolest avatr I ever seen ! I should get one like this too
I have one forum that I own and it's not very active, nor do I push it much, so it's not hard to read each post ... However, I could see that IF it were to get busy, that I honestly wouldn't take the time so long as there were trustworthy mod's to oversee. As slow as it is, right now, I have to go in weekly and delete spam posts about completely way off-topic junk.
What do you guys do when someone is not a spammer, but still trying to put his site url where it shouldn't be? If you delete his post, he'll be mad and if not, it may spoil the whole quality of the forum..? any tips?
Just simple replace rule (some boards scripts have a 'censore' option): if($url == $template_of_bad_url) print 'we already know this url sweety' ;-) I do that and it works fine for me
Yes I am still in major growth mode so I read and reply to every post. Probably always will. I started off being WAY too nice and easy going about my rules. But now that its busy and high in the SERPS it's attracting way too much junk so have had to clamp down.
I think the important thing about a forum is to establish a certain vibe or presence (whether you're there or not). Whoever runs it, is setting the tone. If you are a good communicator, go ahead and participate all you like. If you're not too much into it, I'd suggest not really parttaking unless you have something to say or feel like saying something
