    Dear Friends .
Do you promote your website offline or just primarily online? If you've done offline promotion of your websites, have you found it to be effective - in both time and cost? Please share some offline promotional strategies & feedback.
    Thanks

One of the biggest advantages to promoting a website online is the hyperlink. When you promote a website offline you need the visitor to remember the address, write the address down manually and for this to happen the visitor needs to feel that he has something to benefit from your site.
Now, you have competition to lower your chances, you have the 2% rule that cleans 98% of the population out of the picture... You see where I'm going with this?
The only reason I see to advertise a site offline is when you plan to earn hundreds of thousands and more. (Or if it can save you more money than the advertising cost.)
If it's a website that everyone can use (not for a specific audience) and it's unique, then I say it's ok.
Oh, also if you have a huge company (with a name that everybody knows) and you finally opened it's website it's ok to let everyone know it's available online.

    I hope I helped...
    :)

Offline marketing is a wide open field for online businesses. Just look at the responses you're getting. Most of the really successful marketers use some form of offline advertising, whether it be classified ads, or direct mail. It's very lucrative.

Anyone who says it too much work is not outsourcing, which is also an important part of highly successful businesses.

Unless you don't sell a real product or service that might be useful for offline people there is no reason to promote it offline.

I market my site offline. We have shirts and various apparel. I've hosted many nightclub and bar events, and am hosting a film festival this summer as well. It brings me lots of business plus gets the word out that my site is local to the city Im in- which brings me new, local models to work with.
I think it depends on what type of site you have. Since I own an adult paysite, it works well for me.

I think it depends on the website your promoting, say if it's for a local web development
company, I've promoted mine in local news papers, which have understandably gotten
    pretty good results.

Though, say if it's a product, which could be widely used, lets say an arcade script, i would say its best to promote it mainly online, targeting that niche.

I do at times promote my offline business activity online but have never felt the need to do anything the other way round!

I haven't done any offline advertising, but I did consider it once by using a radio advertisement for my hosting company.
