Do you promote your site on forums ?

i do that quite a lot.. as i own a forum directory, i generally join forums which are approved in my directory and put my sig there, also at times i put up the voting and reviews post .

 

Yeah, why not. It's a win-win situation for forum owner and poster.

 

Yes Forums are a great way to market your products. But be careful not to spam them or you will get banned just like the other readers are saying!

 

Forums works great.

Just participate to the community and try helping people if you have the knowledge. People will like you for that.

Forums are not only good for backlinks and advertising, but you meet a lot of nice people that you can do business with as well.

I spend 2 hours/ day in forums every day, reading posts and answering to questions.

Beware, because you can become addicted.

A lot of replies have great information. Only one small thing that I didn't see suggested. So here's my list of how you should go about promoting your site in forums, including some previous responses I think are extremely important.

1. Join forums with similar content to that of your site.
2. Do not advertise in your post content. If there is a section of the forum for advertisements, you may do it there. Anywhere else will likely get you banned.
3. Become a helpful asset to the forum community and people will naturally investigate your link(s).

 

I once ran a little experiment on using good copywriting techniques in my signature. By simply writing something intersting as compared to just putting the link to the name of my site, I was able to increase the clicks on the signature by over 1000%.

Forum signatures can be a huge source of targeted traffic and in some cases, see the highest click-thru rates and affiliate conversion rates that some of my sites get. I have even gone as far as to create custom landing pages for visitors from forums via my signature on certain sites.

 

Only if i found a high traffic forum. I sometimes also use it for backlinks.

 

You can get a lot of traffic from relevant forums, but finding good forums is difficult

 

yeah I have a few times, When I start a new site I just post it up to show people it and get feedback......even if its a myspace site on a car forum I am a member on lol I dont care...some times I have recieved like 1000 u/v from it lol

 

I believe Forums work Great as well with marketing porducts.

 

forum backlinks and sig links are free and great way to promote your website or products but it will be good if u promote in revelant forums.

 

It perform well in targeted forums and usually people will take more notice of your sig if you are moderator or has a special rank in that forum.
