Do you build link for your home url only or with your inner page too? Should we focus on building link for our home url only?
Normally you must also give links to inner pages. It is really good to link. Its also called deep links. you can find some good directories for deep links. Just google it
People generally provide link back to their home page only but it depends on the place where you are looking to have the link and at what place you wish your visitors to land...for maximum benefit. If you have a strong article focusing on something very particular, it would be wise to give direct link to it from similar topic discussing place. Regards, RightMan
The ultimate goal is to promote your website as a whole and your website is pointed by your root url. However, you can promote other pages in form of interesting content, like articles and stuff. This way, if others like your content, they will most probably visit other pages too or even bookmark.
Most of the time I have it linked to my main page. But just like "RightMan" said it it would be smart to have links to to sub pages as well. I assume it also would look a little less conspicuous to the search engines of you had links to inner pages and not only to the main homepage.
Sure I do. In fact most of the backlinks point to my mainpage. Something like 60:40 - home / internal. From the main page I manage the link love and spread it carefully among the internal pages.
I build links for both the homepage and inner pages. And the linkbuilding strategies are just the same. I must admit, however, that building links for inner pages is more difficult. Not all directories, for example, don't accept deep links.
Mainly, have the maximum links to all pertinent pages. I suggest that you link to pages with the keywords you are trying to optimize. When people search for something on search engines, each page of your website correspond to a limited number of keywords. Having links to your home page is good, but having a link with the keywords inside is better if it links directly to the inner page. A good example is the links of our signature on this forum.
Good question and one that most Webmasters ignore. Optimizing for deep linked content is 100% essential. Most deep linked content will be focusing on a niche that has low competition in the search engines. However, on page SEO is not always enough to rank first for a term. Try to get 50-100 backlinks for the keyword phrase particular pages are targeting. Even better, analyse your niche. Type "your search term" into google and find out how many people are using that exact phrase. Then , type intitle:"your seacrh term" to find how many sites are using that excat phrase in their title. Then, go to backlinkwatch and see how many backlinks the site has. This is a foolproof method of analysing your niche and finding how easily you can make it to number one on the SERPS for your deep linked content.
I usually promote my home URL but I've heard over and over again how important it is to promote inner pages as well.
A lot of my harder keywords are targeted for the home page so i naturally build links to the home page. However, i do build links to my internal pages too.
