When you want to learn something new, do you prefer reading or watching videos?

With the popularity of Youtube and other video sites nowadays, a lot of people prefer to learn by watching videos rather than read.

I personally prefer reading because I'm quite a speedy reader so I can skim through a book, scan it and pick up the most important points.

But with video, it's hard to skip through a video quickly without missing important points. The watch a video quickly is by setting the play speed to x2, but then everyone in the video starts to sound like The Chipmunks.

Vote on the poll above this thread or share your opinions here.

I believe this thread will be very important in the near future with video being so easy to access through mobile devices, and books gaining less importance amongst the younger generations...

I never had the patience to watch a video. I like to read, since I can follow the information easier. As creating video content is concerned, if I don't see its use myself, I've stuck to writing articles.

I prefer reading, but it depends on the subject. If I learning about design/digital painting, I prefer watching videos.

Yes, I agree with you. Books could tell more details about a new thing to you, while videos are easier to understand. Both of books and videos are good ways to learn new things.
