Hello there! Just curious to know how many of you here play chess. Anyone here plays chess online or offline? thanks, dxeo
I used to, many years ago, but apparently I was to good for my friends and couldn't find any other players. Not because I am talented, but simply because I could hardly find someone to know a little more than the basic rules. Nobody using real tactics and strategies made it boring. Then came the days when there isn't enough time to play a few nice games of chess. So no time, no opponents= no chess I saw guy ritchie's Revolver film, that made me think about playing again a few times, but no players around, and I have little time anyway. Sorry mate, for the time being I won't challenge you!
I used to play a bit, but ran out of opponents who could play at my level (and that's not because I was good ) I occassionally enjoy the odd game after the pub but that usually turns into speed chess with the player who can hold his drink best winning.
Well, I used to be a professional chess player when I was younger, now I mostly play online for fun. You can't imagine how many people are playing chess online nowdays, there are always several thousands of players meeting at yahoo chess. But, nevertheless it seems like chess started to lose it's popularity. Kasparov has recently retired and there are two champions now. Kramnik, who defeated Kasparov in 2000 and Topalov, who has recently won the world champion title. Chess is a cool game and strong chess players were always thought of being intelligent people, the problem is you need to be a professional player to enjoy the brilliant combinations made by the strongest grandmasters. But still chess is considered to be an intelligent game, even now, when a regular home computer, running the last version of Fritz, can beat the world's top grandmasters easily... So, what do you think?
I do not play chess but am one of the web masters for teamchess.org, a 45 45 league. TeamChess arranges tournaments for teams that play on ICC and FICS. Players are from all over the globe. If you enjoy chess and can't find opponents at your level you might enjoy joining. Shannon
Guys who want to play online, always want a rapid fire round and no one sits for serious stratergic games. I dont play online much...but I practice on my electronic chess boards..have got two of them...nearly impossible to beat at higher levels..but you can always defeat them by lowering the difficultly levels..
I play with my dad time to time. I know all the moves but dont have a clue about the strategy etc. So yea, i do play but i suck.
I used to play when I was a kid, but it got too hard to play. By that I mean the ladies were on me so tight I could barely move my arms enough to castle. Also, I didn't have anyone that really knew how to play either.
I've been a club player in the past and have played on ICC, playchess and many other servers. I'm a weak ameture but can still beat 99% of human opponents I don't agree that you need to be professional level to understand Grandmaster strategy/tactics. It does help though.
I play chess with my friends on weekends. I am not a good chess player but not that much bad too Life is also like a chess DON.
I've been playing chess since I was a little kid. Haven't played it online yet but will once I have more time. I love chess
