Do you ping the backlinks to your articles?

When I write an article and and submit it to AB or EZA then promote it by submitting to various article directories ect. linking back to the main article, should I ping my backlinks or is this not necessary?

    Thanks,

    Matt

I'm not too sure what you mean by ping the backlinks. I always ping my articles and my blog posts. I use ping-o-matic

Well I submit my article to articlesbase, then for backlinks I submit it to other article directories linking back to the one on articlesbase.

Normally I just make those submissions then leave them, but would it be more effective to ping all these sites for automatic backlinking?

pinging all your articles will never hurt. Also add the link to reddit. google loves that site.

You should post your best article on aritcle base or ezine etc that has 100% unique and original content. Then use other articles to generate backlinks to your master article using content that isn't identical to your original article. This will avoid any risk of duplicate content because you don't want to hurt your primary article's search engine ranking.

Pinging, as far as I know, can never hurt your rankings. You should ping all of your articles and ping the articles that link back to your master article. And like topcash said submitting your article to social media websites will help out.

After you have completed an article... use pingomatic.com to ping websites.

You can also go one step further and ping / bookmark the bookmarks ... and so on and so on ... it depends what works for you.

As mentioned above pinging never hurts, it's fine to use the top 5 article PR sites, using the same content for 100's looks spammy. Ping them all, and yes bookmark them for an extra bit of juice. You can also collect all your RSS feeds and submit them to numerous RSS directories too.
