Do you personally believe that Electronic Music takes the same amount of skill?

Being a fan of EDM (Electronic Dance Music) i believe that a great amount of time and dedication goes into producing. All the time i hear it get ripped on for being computer-generated as opposed to "live-instruments."

What are your thoughts on the production of House, Trance, Dubstep, etc.?

It definitely takes a great amount of skill to be done properly, it is just a different skill than playing an instrument. On a side note of creation, I have been to many live shows of all genres of music from small band names in clubs to huge bands at large venues/stadiums, multi day festivals and have to say the absolute best shows I have been were electronic music. IMO this is due to their ability to interact with the crowd. Not saying it is 100%, just what I have noticed form the majority of my live music experience.

I consider Electronic music to be modern Jazz.

Yes, it takes just as much skill, however, there are a lot of DJs and musicians that suck that are in the Genre. Have you heard of KJ Sawka or Pendelum?

i think producing electronic music only demands a lot of creativity, but producing music demands skills which have to be grounded

You should not confuse DJ's with music producers. Even though many DJ's like to think they are producers, they are not, simply spinning the vinyl or pressing buttons :p

I agree, it takes a lot of time, passion and creativity just like learning a traditional instrument . Its a very different type of skill, but still a form of art.
