Do You Own an Electric Blanket? Do You Love Your Electric Blanket?

I've just turned my electric blanket on. I'll leave it on for a few hours and when I go to bed it will be so warm and cosy - bum burning hot!

Perhaps you live in a warm country and are in no need of one - I'd prefer to live somewhere with clement weather but it is freezing in England at the moment.

Do you love your electric blanket?

AS you told, I am living in a tropical country where the use of electric blanket is not needed. But I have used electric blanket once in my lifetime while I am visiting Europe. The warmth of the bed is really help to have a sound sleep.

Electric blankets can cause fires! A friend's dog would sit, snuggled on her bed and that caused a hot spot, which caused the bed to burst into flames, which caused her apartment to burn down - the dog was saved.

I live in a tropical country and so thankfully, I can do with a normal blanket. We people have to spend electricity only on air-conditioners and never on heaters! :)

Believe me, if you move to England, you'll need an electric blanket! There's nothing worse than being too cold in bed...

I am planning on getting one soon. It gets quite cold in the house sometimes, usually at night.

    wow... an electric blanket exists.
Which one is energy-efficient: an electric blanket or a heater? I have a plan to go green.
Do you know where I can get electric dentures?;)

Most part of the year, I had to switch on AC to be comfortable because of high temperature and humidity here at Chennai in south India which has mainly three types of climate; they are hot, hotter and hottest :D
The electric blanket will be a redundant one for me...

This is descending into an us and them thread - quite amusing.

An electric blanket (should you be among them that have never heard of one) is made of a felt like material and has wires which emit heat sandwiched in the middle. You fit it under your bottom sheet or under the mattress protector/fleece. It plugs into the mains. Nowadays you can buy electric over blankets and electric duvets too though I think an electric under blanket and over blanket might be a little too much. Old electric blankets were to be turned off when you got into bed but modern ones allow you to bake yourself throughout the night.

Would anybody want to know about "hot water bottles", the type you take to bed? I should imagine DP members in hot climates have never heard or seen one of these either - lucky you...
